Parmesan Crusted Chicken

cooking spray

1/3 cup all purpose flour

salt and ground black pepper

1 lb. boneless chicken breasts, cut length wise into ½ inch wide strips

1/3 cup milk (1/3 C water + 1 TBS powdered milk)

1/3 cup grated parmesan cheese

½ cup quick cooking oats

¾ teaspoon garlic powder

¾ teaspoon onion powder

½ teaspoon dried oregano

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Coat a large baking sheet with cooking spray.

In a shallow dish combine flour and ½ tsp. each salt and black pepper. Add chicken to flour mixture and turn to coat. Place milk in a separate shallow dish. In a third shallow dish or resealable bag, combine parmesan cheese, oats, garlic powder, onion powder, and oregano. Dip chicken into flour and turn to coat. Dip flour coated chicken into milk and then transfer chicken to oat mixture. Turn to coat chicken (or shake bag) until well covered with oat mixture. ‎”Because of Christ there is hope smiling brightly before you, and you need not worry too much about sickness, death, poverty, or other afflictions. The Lord will take care of you. Your responsibility is to keep the commandments, feast upon the words of Christ, and stay in the path to your heavenly home.”

Item of the Week

Posted by imawheatwatcher on January 26, 2012

Every Thursday I will post an “Item of the Week” to assemble our Preparedness kits. Don’t worry if you have just started and we are half way through the list. This will continue on a loop so we will eventually get back to the beginning. Start when you can, do what you can, and we will become prepared.

Right now we are gathering items for: School Student Backpack- Zip Lock Emergency Baggie!

This week we are gathering 2 pocket size facial tissue packs. You can find these at the Dollar Store or in the trial size are of your store.

If you have children in school please, please, PLEASE check with the school and see what their emergency plan is. Some schools have kits for all the students and some don’t. Plus you will want to know what the routine will be to pick up your kids after an emergency or during. For instance, I know this year my daughter’s school is working on kits for the students. I don’t believe they have a plan yet, but I also haven’t dug around to find out.

I will be making one of these kits for my husband. He goes to UVU and it didn’t occur to me that he would need one. I know he has a good car kit but there is a big chance that he won’t be in his car if something happens. And yes he does have an office kit too.

January Wheat Watchers Meeting

Posted by imawheatwatcher on January 18, 2012

Welcome to tonight’s meeting!

I would like to guide you over to a really good site called “foodstoragemadeeasy.net“. They have a wonderful list of how much will fit into #10 cans and what will fit into buckets. Since case lot sales will be happening soon, I thought this would be something of interest. Sometimes you can get wheat, powdered milk, oats, etc for cheap in a bag instead of a bucket.

Enjoy! Let me know if you have any questions!

P.S. I did have my baby on the 5th. All is well and we are adjusting nicely. 😉

Parley’s Hardware Info

Posted by imawheatwatcher on January 17, 2012

I received this information in an email from Laurel. I thought this would be good info to pass along. Hope it helps some of you out getting prepared. 😉

Hello everyone, it’s been a while since we have contacted you through email. We closed the store almost five months ago and I wanted to update you all on the emergency preparedness business I’m still running from my home. The business is not up and running yet, however, we are participating in an expo next week called “Look Good, Feel Good.” We will be showing several of our emergency preparedness items such as solar generators, sun ovens, water purification, storage items, and more. We hope you will be able to attend and tell all your friends about it. It’s on Friday, Jan. 20th 11am-2pm. It’s at the Boy Scout Office at 748 N. 1340 W. in Orem. Admission and lunch (at noon) are free.

In the next few months I will be getting quite involved in the emergency preparedness business and will keep you informed of what’s happening out there in the world. I believe we are all feeling a great need to be prepared. I will have speacials or groups buys on some emergency preparedness items every month.

I will also be having a plumbing service special every month. I am getting involved again in the plumbing business that I sold to my son, Lance, and wanted to remind you about our free furnace filter program. We offer a free furnace filter every month to encourage you to keep up on the maintenance of your furnace. Please take advantage of this program while you can. If you need a plumber or heating and air technician please give us a call at 801-226-3033. To get your free furnace filter go to the new PPM office at 864 N. 1430 W. in Orem.

I want to personally thank all of you for your support with the hardware store. I really enjoyed meeting and serving all of you. Please call or email me with any questions or comments you might have.
