Wheat Watchers meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday at 7:00 pm at Kathy's house.

We've talked the talk, now it's time to walk the walk. I'm letting the blog, newsletter and e-mail do most of the talking and leaving the meetings open for much more DOING!

March Wheat Watchers Notes

Posted by imawheatwatcher on March 23, 2011

This past meeting we discussed many ways to buy your long and short term food storage on a budget. Here is the link to get the notes from that evening. * Sorry that link isn’t working. We are having technical difficulties. I am working hard at getting it worked out. If you want the notes let me know and I will get you a copy. Thanks!*

Here are some of the extra notes that are not on the printed notes.

~Tight on money? Start small, one or two cans a week extra and maybe one or two long term food items a month
~Look at the monthly Emergency Essentials group orders. You can find some great discounts there.
~Look at the LDS Cannery prices before buying at a sale.
~Case Lot Sales are great. If you happen to shop at a store that won’t let you break up a case then consider going in with a neighbor or friend.
~Macey’s in Orem has 4 oz cans with freeze dried items, powdered milk, etc. to try (for $4-$6) before purchasing a big #10 can
~Ask for Food Storage Items as gifts
~Go to http://www.providentliving.org to see how much of the long term food storage you actually need
~When setting budgets for food storage DON’T forget the non-food items. Toilet paper, shampoo, soup, deodorant, baby wipes, diapers, etc.
