Food Storage Recipe Monday

I thought that it would be a great use of this blog to post food storage friendly recipes every Monday. I have gotten several comments that people would LOVE more recipes. If you have a recipe that you love and would like to share, please email it to me!

The Best Oatmeal Cake Ever

1 c. quick cooking or old fashioned oats
1/2 c. butter
1 1/2 c. boiling water
1 1/2 c sifted flour
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
2 eggs
1 c. brown sugar

Combine oats, butter and boiling water in bowl.  Cool.   Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg and salt. 

Add eggs to oat mixture; beat well.  Add dry ingredients and brown sugar to oat mixture; beat at medium speed 2 minutes.  Pour batter into greased 13 x 9 x 2″ baking pan.

Bake in 350 degree oven 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done.
