Food Storage Recipe Monday

Posted by imawheatwatcher on July 5, 2010

I thought that it would be a great use of this blog to post food storage friendly recipes every Monday. I have gotten several comments that people would LOVE more recipes. If you have a recipe that you love and would like to share, please email it to me!

Chili Mac

*Sorry there is no picture. The herd came in from outside and it disappeared.

1 lb. ground beef (I actually use ground sausage)
1/4 cup chopped onion (2 TBS minced dried onion)
15 oz can red kidney beans, rinsed and drained
1 8 oz can tomato sauce
15 oz can of pinto beans, not drained or rinsed
1 cup elbow macaroni
1/2 c water
4 oz can of diced green chilis
1-3 tsp of chili powder, to taste (I use 1/2 tsp)
1/2 tsp garlic salt
1/2 cup shredded cheese

Cook meat and onions until browned. Stir in other ingredients. Bring to a boil and reduce heat. Simmer until macaroni is cooked. Take off heat and cover with cheese and put on lid. Let stand for 2 minutes. Works better in a 12″ deep skillet.
