Wheat Watchers

Preparedness and Planning Group

  • Get it Together

Wheat Watchers meets monthly on the 3rd Wednesday at 7:00 pm at Kathy's house.

We've talked the talk, now it's time to walk the walk. I'm letting the blog, newsletter and e-mail do most of the talking and leaving the meetings open for much more DOING!

October Meeting

Posted by imawheatwatcher on October 14, 2008

Please come if you can!
Tuesday, October 21
7:00 pm

We will have the materials available for you to assemble your 72 hour basics and portable toilet kits if you missed Super Saturday.

We will learn about how to prepare for a pandemic flu outbreak. We have been told by Prophets and apostles to expect and prepare for a pandemic avian flu outbreak. I have heard the phrase “Not if, but when pandemic illness comes” over the pulpit a few times. Of course, NOW is the time to prepare. A ward member attended the pandemic seminar given in Spanish Fork in August and will be here to share her knowledge gained in that meeting. The information is based upon the counsel given on the providentliving.org web site.

Did you know we live 20-30 minutes downwind from ? Both these facilities use highly toxic chemicals that if leaked into the air would force much of our area into their homes to “shelter in place.” Learn what this entails and how to do it.

After our discussions, we will decide what items we may want to include in a pandemic and shelter in place kit. Guess what? THAT’s our November project-building the kits!
